[Open; Backdated] It's My Party...let's not catch my house on fire.
Who: Anyone and Everyone
What: Balfour's having an odd cross between a dinner party and a birthday party at his house, and he's invited everyone.
When: 15 April
Where: His house in Mallow Hallow
[So, after his announcement, Balfour had spent a lot of time and energyafter crying on Reid's shoulder setting up the party. There's a lot to eat: steaks, chicken, different types of vegetables both grilled and heated up in his microwave. There's also at least four types of alcohol not counting however many types of beer had been brought. He's basically expecting everyone to enjoy themselves and have fun.
There are picnic tables all over for people to eat at, as well as chairs, and the inside of the house has been cleared up a bit to make a sort of bounce house for anyone who wants to use his floor as a trampoline.]

I wouldn't be bothered by some jerk, though. [He'd be more worried about someone bothering Balfour, honestly.] And I won't let him ruin your party or anything, if he does show up, alright?
no subject
[What little a smile he has falls and he shifts uncomfortably, rubbing at his arm.]
I'm sorry. I'm being rather frustrating about this, aren't I?
[Because he knows he's been rather distant, especially since Reid had decided that they were boyfriends. He'd pulled away out of fear, and now he's even more afraid because he knows.]
no subject
This guy being around really makes you that upset?
[He just wanted to understand, he wasn't upset with Balfour or anything, just concerned. And worried that maybe he was maybe taking things too fast. He didn't want to be the one to make Balfour upset, after all.]
no subject
[It's a lot more than just Rook bothering him, but he won't mention it. He doesn't want Reid feeling badly about his offer, even if that was what had him on edge now. Before, it had been just fun, just cuddling, kissing, no expectations for more.
Now there were expectations, and Balfour feared that he wouldn't be enough, as was the case so many times before with so many in his life.]

Just try to relax, and remember; you've got warlocks on your side. If he says or does anything, I can kick him out. It's your party after all.
[He smiled, trying to be reassuring.]
Now, is there anything else I can do to help? Maybe help you relax or something?
no subject
[He offers a shaky smile and shakes his head, reaching out to grab Reid's wrist, holding tightly. Don't go.]
Are you enjoying yourself?
no subject
[Balfour knew he could talk to Reid about anything, right? Reid would do whatever he could to make sure that Balfour was comfortable. He stepped closer, shrugging a little.]
Yeah. It's a nice party. [Oh, right. Party. Birthday. Presents.] And I got you a few things, too.
no subject
[Wait. Wait. He's supposed to be enthusiastic, right? So he smiles a little broader than maybe was appropriate, twitching a little.]
What'd you get?
[Because he knows "You didn't have to," or "I didn't really want anything," were the wrong answers. He's already had this argument.
So he's going to be happy and enthusiastic.]
no subject
Telling you ruins the surprise, you know?
[Yeah, he remembered what Balfour had said about not wanting anything, but of course, unsurprisingly, he'd gone ahead and gotten him something anyway.]
I put them out in the other room so I'll just go and get them, alright?
no subject
[Because he doesn't want to be alone right now. THe party's just started, sure, but he still doesn't want to be alone right now.]
no subject
[He smiled, taking Balfour by the hand and then led the way into the other room where he'd put down the presents. They weren't wrapped, because screw that. He didn't have the patience or the talent-they would have looked like they'd been wrapped by a three year old if he'd tried.
So instead there was a rectangular box with a smaller one, about the size of a coffee mug, on top of it. The smaller one was also moving, but he held onto that one for now, instead holding out the other box first. It was a little on the heavy side, due to the fact that there was a leather jacket inside. It was brown leather, not black like he'd almost gone with first, and the material was nice and soft. He'd figured-hoped-that Balfour wore the same size Tyler did and had gone from there.]
no subject
[He pulls the jacket out of the box and immediately presses his face to the leather. He smiles and rubs his cheek against it, giving it a good appraisal of value.]
It's lovely, Reid. You didn't have to!
[He leans forward, wrapping his arms around his friend--wait, no, boyfriend, Reid was his boyfriend now, somehow--and hugging him tightly.]<
I love it. Thank you.
no subject
[He smiled, leaning into the hug-and being careful not to tip or drop that other box. That wouldn't make it very happy at all. As it was, the box made a soft snorting sound that Reid completely ignored.]
I'm glad you like it
no subject
[He grins and kisses Reid sweetly, running his fingers through his hair, along his ear, and yep, he just tweaked that earring.]
When is your birthday so I can get you something?
[He's...somehow not noticed the other box yet. Can he be any more unobservant?]
no subject
November. My birthday's November twenty-third. My eighteenth'll be special, too.
[He grinned.]
I've still got something else for you too, if you want it. [Balfour'd better want it too, because Reid was giving it to him either way. Whatever was in that box was starting to get a little impatient, too.]
no subject
[He smiles and draws back when Reid mentions another present, taking it carefully from him, wary of the way the box rattles.]
The jacket was enough. YOu didn't have to get me anything else.
no subject
You say that now. Just wait till you open it.
[He had tried to remember what Balfour had told him about his dragon however long ago, when Reid had asked. He'd done his best, and now he could only hope that Balfour would like it and that Reid wouldn't end up stirring up bad memories or emotions or something.
Cause see, inside the box was a dragon. Not a real dragon, flesh and blood, but a dragon...figure. It was some sort of metal, he wasn't sure exactly what, and it was smooth and shiny and silver. Small enough to fit in the palm of your hand, sleek and sort of dainty. Oh yeah, and he'd also enchanted it. It could move-walk, fly, flex its tiny little claws, anything it so desired-and he'd tried to make sure it would be loyal, so that the damn thing wouldn't just wander off and get lost or something, so that Balfour wouldn't have to keep it boxed up all of the time.]
no subject
He gasped when he opened the box, seeing the dragon.]
Oh. Oh, hello, beautiful...
[And this is him, sticking his hand in the box in front of the dragon.]
no subject
Do you like it?
[The dragon couldn't exactly sniff him, so instead it just stared, cocking its head to the side. Then it butted its head against his hand in a friendly manner.]
no subject
[Balfour's knees buckle when the dragon buts its head against his hand and he ends up in a heap on the floor, box between his legs, both hands going in, scooping the metal dragon up.]
You are precious.
[And you, Reid, will now be ignored. These are the dangers of giving Balfour a dragon.]
no subject
But now, now it had more room and it was quite happy about that. It turned in a circle in Balfour's hands, stretching out its wings and flicking its tail.]
no subject
Thank you.
no subject
Balfour also wasn't the only one who was thrilled. Reid was so happy that he'd made Balfour happy. It made him feel good. He always wanted to be able to make Balfour happy like that. Because he cared that much.
He smiled warmly.]
I'm just glad you like it. I was kind of worried you wouldn't.
no subject
[He linefaces at Reid, but it doesn't last long. He pats his free hand on the ground next to him, grinning at him.]
Join me, get to know her.
no subject
[He honestly didn't know what exactly he had expected as a bad response, but. Either way this obviously wasn't it, so he smiled and shrugged, sitting down next to Balfour.]
It's my first time doing something like this, so I'm not sure if something screwy'll happen or not. I mean, it shouldn't, but.
