[For the millionth time today Duncan glanced at his communicator and shook his head. Still no one familiar from home. Maybe he shouldn't get his hopes up so much and just let it go. It wasn't so bad being on his own after all. Everyone here seemed to be very accepting and he appreciated that. In fact, it let the teen relax a little and not caring who saw his orange scaly skin anymore. Well, almost. He was still a little self conscious about that, but, he was slowly getting better.

Maybe.

So far.

Anyway, he lets out a little sigh and moves away from the tree he had been leaning against. Hands slip into his pockets as he begins to wander around looking for something interesting to do. Or to just see what new people he can meet. Whatever wanders his way. ]

[ Grr grumble mutter gripe.

There is an Akane-beast prowling the district -- wait, no, just a vaguely irritated Tendo clutching a box of mysterious origin (it's food. Don't eat it, you'll be soooooooooorryyyyyy. ) as she scanned her surroundings looking for a certain pigtailed boy.

That fool Ranma had the nerve to insult her cooking! Well she'd show him! She'd made a lunchbox, and by god she was going to make him eat it and he would say her food tasted good, and that would show him! Jerk. ]

[Whoa. Someone's having a bad day. Duncan almost wants to avoid her. Well, until he realized he knew who that was. Though, would she know who he was?

Duncan debated for a few moments before walking up to her.]

Hey Akane, how's it going?

[ Akane startled a bit at hearing her name, and looked up and over to see who addressed her. And... is it her or did he have -orange- skin? ...for a second that voice sounded familiar too. Name name -- ]

Um... Hi - [ AH! Then the click, and the irritation is temporarily punted to the side, replaced by curiosity. ]

Duncan...?

Yeah it's me. Sorry to startle you.

[He has the decency to look a little sheepish. Maybe just randomly talking to someone who has never seen his face wasn't the best idea.]

So uh, you look like you're on a mission or something. Hope it's nothing serious.

[ Akane smiles, shaking her head. ]

It's okay. I wasn't really paying attention anyway. [ Suddenly sheepish. ]

No, not really. I was just looking for someone.

Oh? Maybe I can help. Who are you looking for?

Ranma. He showed up recently. [ She motions with the box in her hands, slightly. ]

I made him a box lunch, but I think he's been dodging me. [ Can't IMAGINE why. ]

Ranma huh? I think I've talked to him. Crazy kid wanting to interrogate the fairies, right?

[He glances down at the box in her hands and blinks. Why would someone dodge a free lunch.]

Oh yeah? Why would he do that?

[ Akane huffs. ]

That's him all right. [ Hmph again at the next question. ]

Because he's an ungrateful jerk, that's why.

[ Ooooor more like he wants to not die from one too many of Akane's nearly lethal dishes. She tries damnit, he doesn't have to be insensitive about it! ]

[He raises an eyebrow at that. There has to be more to it then that.]

Uh huh. What exactly did you make him?

[Sadly, Duncan could probably eat her cooking and be fine. After all, he eats charcoal normally.]

[ Akane would be the happiest -ever- that someone liked her cooking. Or well, eating it and liking it weren't exactly mutually exclusive so... ]

Here, see? [ She moves closer, lifting the lid. It certainly looked okay anyway. She never had a problem with presentation. There was a fair amount of rice, some tiny bits of sausage and fish and a some noodles. At least that's what it all LOOKED like. ]

[Eating was one thing. Liking.. might be another matter entirely.]

...It looks normal enough.

[He peers down at the box of food. It may look normal, but there was something off with the smell. Or at least, he thought so. But, it wasn't anything major, right? ]

Well, if he won't eat it, I wouldn't mind attempting. Though, not sure how my stomach will like it. I kinda have a specialized diet.

[ Duncan's nose is right - there was something really off about the smell. The taste too, if he tries it. ]

Really?

[ Already Akane brightens, even though she looks a bit apprehensive. SHe knows her cooking is horrible, but she tries - oh lord how she tries - to cook it well. It's just... she's careless. Especially when she's angry. ]

Well... sure. I mean, at least it won't go to waste this way. What kind of diet do you usually have? [ She holds the box out. ]

There's a little bit of everything.

[ Like. Literally. THe rice is made well, but ... she used soap to clean it. The meat is decently cooked, more over than under, but she grabbed the cinnamon instead of the pepper when she spiced it. There's fish too, and god only knows what she used to glaze -that- because it's kind of purplish in hue. There are some mushrooms and only half of those are even edible - and oh yes. Bits of cutting board are hidden in there. Yum yum. ]

Normally? Charcoal.

[Duncan takes a closer look at the food and now realizes just...why Ranma might go running when it came to this dish. If he ate normal food, he might run too. But, at least there was some wood in there. That's something normal to him at least.]

Yeah, I think I can eat this. Might need to char it a little though.

[Hey, having a stomach that can handle something worse then this comes in handy sometimes.]

Charcoal?

[ SERIOUSLY. What's the vitamin quotient in charcoal? At the latter though, Akane brightens, grinning broadly. ]

Really? Well then, here! I can always make Ranma something later. [ Beam beam. ]

[Hell if he knew. All Duncan knew was his body needed it. Lots of it.]

If you're sure.

[He takes the box, glances around for a few moments before breathing in and then breathing out a thin like of flame into the box and er.. carefully burning everything so he can eat it before starting to pick out the bits that looked the tastiest to him and chowing down.]

Hey, not bad at all.

Uh-huh, I don't mind. [ She blinks in surprise when the food is charred, a bit taken aback - but not in the 'omg freak' manner. Actually that was kinda cool - and ... he can still taste it? That's awesome! ]

Really?

Yeah, why? I mean, it doesn't have the same flavor or texture of charcoal, but it's close.

[ .. is that good? She'll assume it is. ]

Well - I know my cooking isn't...really the best. [ Burning it to that point probably killed all the flavor as it is so ...! ]

[Yeah, we'll go with good.]

Hey, it works for me at least. Dunno why Ranma would be running away from it really. I mean, it wasn't horrible.

He's... had experience with some of my cooking before. It didn't turn out as well as this did. Kasumi did all the cooking at home - or he'd go and mooch off of Ukyou or Shampoo.

...Sound's like a real winner.

...IF you don't know why, then why don't you just stop bothering?

[ Pause. ]

Because I'm going to make him eat his words, every time he insulted my cooking, or die trying. [ Or kill HIM trying, more like. ]

...It sounds like you're just adding to the problem.
