[Loki frowns and partly scoffs again.]

What? Did you think me human?

Well, you ... feel cold, but that doesn't mean you could see me.

[His voice trembles slightly with awe. Being a Guardian was changing things for him already. Soon, everyone will be able to see!]

[hisoldtricks]

[There's a wariness to Loki's eyes as hears the words, 'you...feel cold'. He doesn't like that. Someone being able to sense the truth about him. It's...unsettling. Who is this Jack Frost and why does he feel familiar? Though he can't bring himself to ask those questions out loud.]

I'm a sorcerer, I've been trained to see what is normally unseen.

[Though he feels it may be more than that, however he does not know what that more could be.]

[Jack frowns. Shouldn't only children see him? How does magic work anyway?]

I guess that works...

What are you?

[Not going to lie, the young man's control over the wind and cold are unsettling to Loki. Granted the young man is small, but then so was he.]

[on_thin_ice]

I'm ... Jack Frost.

[He doesn't really know how else to answer that. He's dead? Alive? With special powers?]

I'm a guardian.

[hisoldtricks]

Guardian of what precisely?

[Again the name is unfamiliar to him. He can't help but probe a bit further with his questions as his curiosity has been peaked.]

[Jack shrugs, swinging his staff loosely]

Of kids. I protect kids and help them believe when things get too rough.

[hisoldtricks]

[That just makes him raise an eyebrow. What a waste.]

Ah, how quaint. That would be human children, I suppose?

[on_thin_ice]

What other kinds of kids are there?

[hisoldtricks]

You do not listen very well, do you? I am not human. There are far more realms of beings beyond the mere mortals of Midgard and all of them produce offspring. So to answer your question, numerous kinds.

Well, I haven't met any, except you.

[hisoldtricks]

I have a feeling that will change the longer you are here.

[A mere observation considering all he has seen so far himself.]

Probably. Not that I mind.

[He climbs onto his staff to get a better look at you] Man, you are chilly.

[hisoldtricks]

[Loki frowns, again feeling unsettled by his apparent senses.]

And what precisely do you mean by that?

[on_thin_ice]

It's just what I feel. Being the guy who brings winter around here.

[hisoldtricks]

Ah, so you are not merely a guardian of children then?

[on_thin_ice]

I never said I was only a Guardian. I get winter ready for the world.

[hisoldtricks]

No, but you did not offer up anything else about yourself other then your name.

Are you a winter mage or a winter spirit then?

[Granted he's not use to either solely being found on Earth. But it feels less threatening to think the other man a mage or spirit rather than another Jotun.]

[Jack considers this carefully]

Spirit is the right word, I think. At least it's close enough.

[Slowly Loki nods as if beginning to understand, at least somewhat. Still he wasn't sure how much comfort this truly allotted him that the other could sense his true nature so easily. Something that he himself had known nothing about for nearly the entirely of his existence.]

So you are a spirit that has been charged with bringing winter and you are a guardian of children?

[He clarifies, just to be sure that he has the gist of the situation down. ]

That's right! You got it.

[He smiles, total and unabashed appreciation]

You seem to be taking your situation in this place rather well. I would have thought you would feel a bit more put out to have your duties disrupted.

Pssh, no way. I travel all the time. Besides, it's nice to be in a place where I can actually talk to people. And they even talk back!

Starved for conversation then. Are there no other spirits or guardians that you can converse with back in your world?
