Who: Arthur get your ass over here
What: Penthouse antics
Where: the area in crystalden with the more high end apartments
When: 3/12

[A week. It took her a whole damn week of looking, but she finally found the perfect place to live. Cynthia didn't even know how she managed to find this place. It wasn't on her map and the concierge of her hotel didn't even know about it.

Apparently luck was on her side...maybe.

So here she was. Orion Apartments. Getting ready to step into her new penthouse.]

Things are definitely looking up today.

[ arthur's gotten the place on recommendation. he's been looking for discreet accommodations within the concept of the dream, and the whole futuristic motifs of crystalden isn't under his usual aesthetic palette. but the dream is detailed and populated - so until these far too self aware projections have caught on - he's not giving them any indication of his presence. arthur is good at being incognito, good at barely being more than a blip on the radar.

he's been snooping around the dream. trying to figure out the places' mechanics the same way a watchmaker sees cogs and gears. on edge in his own right.

the last thing he recalls is the hotel on the second level. he wonders if he's somehow managed to die during the kick and this is some variant of someone's limbo. ( however this place is too elaborate, too constructed and he doesn't know if this is a recreation of mal and cobb's collected psyche or if this is something he's built on his own. )

still, the apartment is something he's coordinated with the owner for. registered it under the name, mr. charles and said it was for his to look over. ]

I wasn't aware this flat was occupied. [ he says as his first greeting to the blonde he sees. ]

[ arthur wasn't expecting this. he has to wonder if this is part of some ploy. if she's a forger, or another extractor or something. there'd be no pattern, no distinction or reason as to why arthur would have chose that flat in specific when there were many available.

the flat had it's merits and arthur was able to look up its blue prints using the device. it seemed safe enough. ]

Unfortunately, it seems like we've reached a misunderstanding.

[ arthur has a loaded glock, hidden within the suit and he's willing to pull it out the minute cynthia strikes up anything suspicious. ]

However, if this was a flatshare accord that would explain why it ran below market-price. [ matter of factly. ]

[ arthur hardly budges. he keeps his mouth drawn in a flat line. slipping calloused fingers into the pockets of ironed pants. he's still wearing the clothes from the second level, the neat ensemble that was slightly wrinkled from defying gravity. ]

Keep it. [ he says without a moment of hesitation. room mates, projections. too much of a high risk vector. ]

There's no point. With all due respect, the circumstances are less than ideal.

[ there's a fork in the road, the idea that (1) he can always take this as an opportunity to study a projection or (2) have moments of defenselessness in his own flat and not be prepared for it should it decide to be suddenly miltiarised. the situation is too delicate and arthur isn't a risk taker. he's leaving it for now. ]

[ the i'm not - is implied but not said aloud. ]

I'd be willing to help you find other accommodations.

[ there's too much glass. it's too high risk, too many tangents and vectors he can't control. this place is wild enough as it is, the last thing that arthur wants to do is have a place that's too accessible. ]

But only to that extent.

[ arthur hasn't gotten her name and he doesn't care too. no point in finding attachments with projections. ]

Then I'm sure you'll have no further problems.

[ he aught to feel bad, but there's no way he can keep what he does a secret. arthur needs his privacy like a fish takes to water. he needs to know that he can use the pasiv safely and do his research in peace. she seems harmless, but arthur isn't ready to let go a lot of his defenses. ]

You'll manage without me.

[ crystalden isn't the nicest place in the hallow? arthur's dreamed up riots and skyscrapes built to collapse. paradoxes and mazes. arthur's been in dreams with mal ( he'll insist, because she still thinks she's lovelier than most people card her for - that cobb's idea of mal was never accurate ). they're unfriendly, but hardly hostile - or perhaps it's simply because arthur has yet to figure out why he's only able to perceive and not create, like most other dreams.

it's futuristic. cold but not at all vicious. ]

I have no intention of accepting that room. Given the circumstances, it may be more convenient for you to just enjoy the flat as it is.

[ he says coolly. arthur searches for something. an excuse, a lie. something practiced. ]

I'm not fond of the decor.
