[Along a dirt road in Highcrest this fine morning, one agent is continuing his daily stroll around Mallow Hallow. There is one difference today, a brood of ducklings are waddling after him.

As he crosses the road, the ducklings honk and try to rush across to follow him, prompting a frown on Coulson's face, so he turns back around, ushering them back to the side of the road and crouches down before them sternly]

Look both ways before crossing.

[No, he hasn't grown a soft spot for them. Why do you ask?]

[She surveys him briefly, and then curiosity overwhelms her.]

What were those?

Dangerous weapons. You don't know what they are?

[petitvoleur]

[She shakes her head, feeling abashed suddenly. There are so many things she doesn't yet know about this world, and now it's like they're coming at her all at once.]

What kind of weapons or technology are you familiar with?

[petitvoleur]

[She pats the sword at her side.]

Steel. Bows. Morningstars. The like.

[he nods and takes out the tazer] This fires enough electricity to stun a person. You can think of it as a much weaker version of lightning. It's commonly used in law enforcement and generally non-fatal.

[petitvoleur]

[She peers at it hesitantly, frightened at the idea of handheld lightning but not about to show it. In fact, she remains very matter-of-fact despite her curosity.]

And the other thing?

[threateningflour]

[he tucks the tazer away and takes out the gun, holding it so that the muzzle is facing in a direction where it would only hit wall.]

This is a gun. It fires a metal projectile with the help of gunpowder. It tends to be more dangerous and fatal than the tazer.

[She rears her head back slightly, still eyeing the weapon warily.]

And these are commonplace where you come from?

[threateningflour]

Unfortunately. [he puts the gun away in its holster under his jacket] Like any other weapon, it's dangerous because of how you use it.

[petitvoleur]

[She cocks her head at him.]
