The pillows are amazing, and it was interesting to meet someone else that appreciated that. Bro's feeling better by now. He's gotten his wound sewn up and at some point he cleaned up. Now he's exploring the district that he's supposed to call home and deciding which pillows to tear apart and make into smuppets.

He's making a nice pile of his own pillows right next to him.

Doll could see that the human was claiming those in one pile for himself -- it seemed self-explanatory enough, really! -- but the rest were surely still fair game, right? Had to be! So it was in a pile nearby that Doll found a particular pillow it liked... near the bottom.

It grabbed the pillow, eyeing the heavier ones on top, some of them not quite beanbags, and tugged. It didn't come out right away, trapped under the weight of the others. It was a big pile!

And tugged again -- ah, there! It gave just a bit!

And once again...

...and Doll found itself with that pillow in its hands, suddenly free. Perhaps too suddenly, as it tumbled backwards, landing on the human's pile.

Doll blinked, its yellow irises disappearing in the darkness of its eye-holes briefly, and held that just-won pillow to itself, confirming that it still had a grip on it, before attempting to stand back up from the pile. It hadn't been expecting that to happen, clearly -- and with one arm occupied with keeping its prize against its chest, it was having difficulty in standing again. At least it hadn't wrecked the pile it landed in too much... but it could probably use a hand in standing again.

Help up what looked like a skinny, pale teenager at first? Closer inspection reveals a lack of mouth and actual eyes, and being made of plastic....

"You okay kid?" Bro asked. Of course pillows are soft to land on, but it could still be startling. He reached out to offer a hand up out of his pile.

Doll nodded -- yeah, it wasn't hurt or anything -- and took Bro's hand. It was just surprised and in such a position that it would probably disturb Bro's pile quite a bit more, in the process of getting up on its own again.

The plastic Doll was made of might've been hard, but it seemed to have a soft enough texture somehow, and the joints were well enough hidden in the knuckles. The wrist was more obvious, but the shirt sleeve tended to cover it better than not.

That was a weird texture for a hand, but he helped the kid up and took a closer look.

"So, you have a name?"

Doll nodded -- it had a name, yes! -- and pointed to the spot on its left chest, where "Doll" was written in white on the gray fabric, with katakana just below it.

It figured, that that was how Doll had to answer the question; the big toy hadn't a mouth. Not that having a mouth kept its little smile from being obvious, of course... the eyes (eye-holes?) were large and almost cartoonishly expressive.

Doll pointed briefly to the human, and tilted its head to the side a bit, leaning forward slightly, as though anticipating listening closely as it attempted to turn the question back. Its name was Doll, but who was he?

"I'm Bro," he said, deciding to go with the shortest introduction. Cool, a living doll with Japanese roots. "So, you don't talk?"

Doll shook its head, and patted its lower face, where a mouth should be, but clearly wasn't. It couldn't talk -- and for a clear reason.

Having no way to speak out loud didn't mean having nothing to say, though. It looked behind itself, down at the pile of pillows it's landed in, and surely disrupted... pointed down at the mess, looking up at Bro, and then hung its head, looking ever so guilty about that. Sorry, Bro, it landed on your project there! Didn't mean to do so....

"Hey, it's cool, lil man," he said, waving off the apology. In fact, if Doll looks again, the pile will be neat and tidy again. Did Bro move?

Doll still seemed worried, and did look back, frowning as though to protest... until it saw the pile.

It paused there, and blinked again a few times, trying to process this. The pile was nice and neat again? How did that even...?

It looked back to Bro again, eyes wide in surprise, and pointed to the pile, then looked back at it again. Bro saw the now-neat pile too, right? Because Doll seems quite surprised by this, and may like an explanation. It was sure it had disrupted Bro's pile!

Bro smirks and then chuckles. "It's called flash stepping."

Doll leaned forward a little again, tilting its head. If this were a cartoon, there'd likely be a giant question mark over its head, with that look on its face. Flash stepping seemed to be something Doll would like to hear more about, Bro!

You asked for it, if only silently. He does not appear to be moving, but the pile of pillows next to Bro rearrange themselves and three new pillows are added to the pile.

It's topped with one of his Smuppets, retrieved from his Sylladex.

Doll gestured to the pile again, and looked back to Bro, trying to figure this out still. It started to gesture again, but then realized that maybe this wasn't as clear as it could be, and took out its pillow-phone, to type into.

how?

It simply held the phone up so Bro could see it, after doing so. (Where was the point in sending the text to Bro, when he was standing right there?)

"Its called flashstepping and I'm a master at it," Bro replied. He put the smuppet back in his sylladex and then his pile of pillows. Maybe it was time to program a new Fetch Modus.

Doll didn't seem satisfied with that answer. It typed on its pillowphone again, and held it back up to him.

"Well if you want to learn it requires a lot of dedication. Being ambushed at all hours of the day and night, strifes, and more," he said. "Would have to skip the rap portion, though."

Doll nodded. It knew what ambushes were, at least! That was when one of its friends was hiding until it came near, and then they surprised it with tickling! It wasn't sure how that, or strifes, whatever those were, could lead to this flash-stepping thing -- maybe it just had to practice moving quickly? -- but it was willing to try!

Have another smile, Bro! You've got yourself an eager student! ....there's no way this could go wrong! Or... you know, maybe even lead to Shadow-skill use in instinctive defense for startling it too badly, and thus perhaps discovering that the big toy wasn't actually a complete pushover? Naaaaah, not a chance.

Mun may be lying about that last part. Oops?

"Well, my second student, be prepared, an ambush can happen any time, any where," he said.

Doll nodded again, grinning widely... and, pleased with Bro's agreement to teach it via tickle-attacks (however that was supposed to work!) it leaned over and hugged him, squeezing tightly.

Of course, "squeezing tightly", when it came to Doll, was entirely comparative. Doll really didn't have any strength to speak of; a human toddler would be a fair match for it in a wrestling contest. But the appearance of the effort it made to hug Bro tightly was certainly there, and the little moment of a slightly stronger squeeze than the rest of the hug could somewhat be felt, a little. Sort of.

Maybe Bro could consider going easy on it, where those ambushes were concerned? Then again, it was made of hard plastic....

Of course, Doll's hug wouldn't have been any problem to handle, if he wasn't recovering from being stabbed fatally through the stomach.

Bro winces as his wound is squeezed.

"Sure, whatever, kid. What's your name anyways?" he asks.

Doll lets go to point to its shirt -- on the left chest of the long-sleeved tee, white against the gray fabric, is "Doll", and again in katakana below it. It points to that, and then taps its chest. "Doll" isn't just what it is, but its name, as well.

It looks rather proud of this, for some reason.

((lol. Doll's like, 5'9". I think it missed hugging around his stomach...))

"Doll, huh," he asked. "Nice name."

((oops, well, it was a pretty bad wound))

Doll smiled at that, looking away a moment. Its body language suggested that if it weren't made of plastic, it would probably be blushing right now.

Mature? Not this one. It was acting like a young child, if anything, and Bro had just made it very happy. Between agreeing to teach it how to do things very quickly, and now the compliment, he'd most definitely made a friend in this toy-thing.

((and I recently posted a log here, if Bro wants to get involved, or pounce or anything. Could always head to Astralfield for training and find out about Doll's cheat-code-like skills then? IDK... ideas? :) ))

And Bro's mental words are going 'Sugoi! Sugoi! Kawaii!' Yes, the stereotypical American fan-girl... in adult male form.

Doll is just so cute! And is making Bro smile! Completely unironic smiles!
